Great sneakers with a few catches

Posted by Alex on 2025 Jul 4th

I have owned and loved 3 pairs of these sneakers before buying this fourth pair. They're very comfortable for me and fit true to size. The reason I've owned so many pairs is because the sole is quite thin and is made of a soft material that wears very quickly. I believe the thin sole is so they fit better under fins, and the material is soft to grip surfaces when wet. I don't use them as water shoes or under fins, so for me it means the sole develops a hole right into the insole quite quickly, while the upper still looks nearly new. I've worn through the soles on the two pairs that I wore around town in about 2 years each time. The pair I use as gym shoes are still going strong. The other catch for me is that because I just wear them as sneakers rather than under fins, I don't need the drain ports. In heavy rain or when there are puddles on the ground, these ports allow water in. That's not really a design flaw so much as a design choice, but it doesn't align with my use. Altama makes a similar sneaker called the "Urban Assault" sneaker, which may not have those drain ports, although info on those shoes is limited. I've looked and never found them for sale in Canada. I'd like to give them a go in the future if they become available. The last issue for me is the price. When I bought my first pair, I think I paid 120 total for these shoes. My last pair cost me 200 total. They're good shoes, and there aren't really any others available that are similar, but even still that seems pretty steep, especially considering the life of the sole. I'm going to look into getting my previous pair resoled, because it's so pricey to replace them.

Great right out of the box

Posted by Brock on 2024 Jul 17th

Normally a size 9.5-10, so I ordered a 10 per the direction to order up if you’re a half size - fit perfectly. Popped em on and got to work in the shop right away. Feet were comfortable after walking around on concrete for a couple days straight, no blisters or sore spots, no slipping on oily/freshly mopped floors, feet weren’t roasting when I was outside in +30c weather. Nice and light. Look nice. Insoles are very comfortable but their grippy/textured EVA finish does make them a bit sticky to get on with socks. Got them specifically for use in the shop while working on a restoration project, might have to get a second pair for day to day use…

Best pair of shoes I've ever worn. Quick break in period, comfortable, easy to clean and fantastic grip. Shoes aside now, the customer service was fantastic and Martin answered every question I had quickly and thoroughly. Will definitely be doing business with them again

    Good boot

Posted by Caleb on 2023 Jan 30th

I like that they don't soak up very much water, they fit true to size, and they have good grip on wet surfaces when the boot is moving back, but when you try to push your foot forward it slips quite easily on wet wood.

    Best shoes I've ever bought

Posted by Ash on 2022 Dec 29th

These shoes are absolutely the best shoes I've ever bought most expensive I've had too besides my steel toes I use for work. Quality is hands down better than my combat boots even and am considering on picking up another set I love these ones so much. Great quality and worth every single penny nickel dime quarter and dollar spent upon picking the shoes up they're light and you can feel they're tasteful well built structure. If you guys get the Urban's as well please let me know I want to get another set. All in all I'll recommend these to anyone price may turn some people off but your getting quality better than that of DC vans etc for just a little more than what you'd pay for those other brands.

Really great pair of shoes. Super comfy, good quality, and look awesome. I wear a size 9.5, and ordered a 10.5. They fit perfectly, so definitely order a size larger than normal.
