Ursus arctos californicus - The California Grizzly Bear. Designated as the state animal of California in 1953, the California Grizzly is the beloved mascot of the "Bear State". Although these bears have been extinct for some time, there have been propositions to re-introduce these grizzlies to California in protected habitats.

Closely related to it's cousin the Kodiak Bear, the California Grizzy was a large and powerful bear admired for it's strength, size, and naturally good looks.
