Ursus maritimus - The Polar Bear. Sharing the title of "Largest Bear in the World" with it's cousin the Kodiak, Polar bears are native largely to the Arctic Circle and are known for their white fur. Polar bears spend most of their time on sea ice hunting seals but due to their powerfully large legs and feet, they're able to cover many miles on land as well. Because of the amount of time spent at sea, Polar Bears are considered a marine mammal.
Polar bears are excellent swimmers and have adapted to the harsh climate of the Arctic. They're able to move across ice, snow, and open water with ease while hunting for seals, their preferred diet.
